The ten-day-long annual festival of Thazhuthala Sree Mahaganapathi falls in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January-February). Commencing with the holy flag hoisting (Kodiyettu) by the temple Tantri, the entire town transforms with illuminations, cultural carnivals, Kathakali, music concerts, and devotional dramas, drawing thousands of devotees worldwide.
